Mix and match: How to style a different look with the same item

Last november we went to Milan for a girls weekend away.  💃 As you might know Milan is famous as the fashion capital of Europe; we were inspired by many stylish people during our stroll down the streets. But we think the world of (fast) fashion can use some positive sustainable vibes. As so, we’re proud outfit repeaters: by wearing exact the same look or by styling an item with a new and different vibe! It’s so much fun to dive into your closet and look for new ways to style that blouse or pair of trousers that you don’t wear anymore. Just plan a free afternoon, dive into your closet, look what you already have and try on some new combinations. It’s even more fun if you do this together with your friend or sister! Revalue what you already have is the most sustainable, cheap and fulfilling thing to do 💚

As Italy is known for its handcraft in making shoes and high quality clothes, we like to show you two  sustainable items from a fair fashion webshop which we know as fun, affordable and fashionable: Sophie Stone.

Look 1 // Elrike
Take a look at the wild side

Dedicated the brand – This funky Dirty Dancing t-shirt is from Dedicated the brand, which we got as a gift from Sophie Stone Fashion. Dedicated is a Swedish sustainable streetwear label. They sell statement T-shirts, sweaters and blouses, made from organic and fairtrade certified cotton. Dedicated is fully transparent about where your clothes are made (so you can check them out👀). See here Sophie Stone’s selection of Dedicated the Brand.

How to style – Elrike likes to combine print with print and to keep the balance she has used some classic pieces like a camel coat and a pair of Dr. Martens booties.

PS: this picture was taken on the roof of the Duomo. In the background you can see a beautiful view over the city.

Look 2 // Elrike
Seventies flair in flared jeans

How to style – An 80’s movie in a seventies inspired style. The checked blazer was borrowed from Anne (the benefits of having a bff with the same taste), who found it on United Wardrobe. Again, she likes to combine those prints with more classic/basic items, but now in seventies style! She wears the Mud flared hazen jeans and white sneakers from Veja.

Look 1 // Anne
A classy business look with plaid pants

People Tree – A true pioneer in fair and sustainable fashion! We love their (printed) jumpsuits and pants. Take a look at Sophie Stone’s selection of People Tree items.

How to style – Anne is really into business kind of looks. Which is why she styled these plaid pants as if she is running into the office. She wears them with a borrowed vintage blazer from Elrike (Rewind Play Fast Forward Vintage), and an old cardigan and heels, which she has for years now.

Look 2 // Anne
Comfy and casual for a stroll down the Streets

How to style – Anne wears her plaid pants in a casual way with a white turtleneck from by Signe, a vintage belt and beret and comfy Dr. Martens boots. Perfect for a stroll down the Streets, a day at work or university or when you have a day off. These pants feel like comfy, but stylish pyjamapants, which you can wear versatile: to work as well as casually!

About Sophie Stone

Sophie Stone is a Dutch webshop full of sophisticated fair fashion and run by powerwoman Anna Sophie. In the webshop you can find items from 15 different sustainable brands, like Kings of Indigo, People Tree, Armed Angels, Thinking Mu and Sexy socks (which are the softest socks!). At this page you can find more information about the brands. We are fans of her selection, because of the wide range of fun prints and the affordable, yet fair prices.
